Guna - a district of Madhya Pradesh is popularly known as the gateway of Malwa &amp; Chambal. It is located on the north-eastern part of Malwa Plateau, on the bank of the river Parbati. Guna has an ancient history of its existence. In the modern era, after the great revolt of 1857, Guna district passed under the control of Gwalior State with Raghogarh as its mandatory chief. Although Guna was de jure a part of Gwalior State, but because of its British cantonment, it was considered expedient to locate the district headquarters there. Its latitude is 240-390 North while longitude is 770-210 South. The west and northwest of Guna district is flanked by Jhalawar and Baran districts respectively of Rajasthan state. Parbati and Sindh are two major rivers of Guna district.
